I loved it

I’d pay to see it again!

Terry Gilliam introduced the film, and then stuck around for a lengthy Q&A afterwards which was very cool. He was received like a rock star which, given his body of work, is well deserved in my opinion.

Everyone knows that this is Heath Ledger’s last film, and he was working on it when he died. It was so interesting to hear how the film almost died when this happened, and how it was brought back to life when Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell pitched in to finish it. I didn’t realize that they contributed their salaries to a trust for Heath’s daughter Matilda.

I’m telling you … the reshooting and substitutions are so seemless that you will swear it was written this way all along. Terry Gilliam said so too. I’m totally impressed that this was pulled off, and how it was done. That’s genius at work.

I always look forward to Terry Gilliam films. He has a unique (to say the least) perspective, and he tells crazy stories. What an imagination! It was a crazy-ass ride, but one of the most enjoyable two hours I spent at the Film Festival this year.

I know I will always feel sad that Heath Ledger could not stay around to finish the film and go to the premiere…so sad that…..but I am so happy that the film got finished and in such a wonderful way, with the help of kind and generous people…..
