Dr. Parnassus Fan FlwrChld Promotes The Film In Times Square On Dec. 12

Fans of Terry Gilliam’s much anticipated new film, The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, hit the streets of Times Square in New York City on Saturday, December 12, 2009 to promote the film. The fans, members of The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus Support Site, brought news of the film’s December 25th NYC opening and January 8 expansion to the public person to person.

This was the third of four planned “Parnassus For The Masses” fan events so far by fans to bring news of the film to the public internationally. There was a fan march in London in October, in Rome fans wearing masks like those used in the film chanted “Parnassus” as director, Terry Gilliam and actress Lily Cole walked the red carpet at the Rome Film Festival and this coming Saturday, December, 19, in Los Angeles, fans will wear sandwichboards on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame to spread the word about the film to the public.

Our marchers from New York City report that people were very enthusiastic and interested in the film. Though the many of the people they talked to didn’t know the film was coming, they were very excited to hear and were anxious to see it. Many were also really excited about seeing a new Terry Gilliam film and about the cast.

One person made the statement to Jenny, our leader in New York, “You must really love this movie to be willing to be out here in this cold carrying that sign for free.” Jenny’s response to me on that was, yes I do love it that much.

To our marcher I give my heartfelt thanks. You are such troopers and I am so proud of all of you!

Remember, Dr. Parnassus opens in New York City on December 25 at the Lincoln Center Theatre and Sunshine Theatre in the Village!

We’ll let you guys know all about the LA March this weekend!!!!

Wow — this is AMAZING! The signs look so good and I am totally envious that I couldn’t be there to join you. Dr. P. fans are just the best!!!

  9. Yes, I do love it that much.: ) That’s what I said to the woman who made the comment. It was scary but fun to carry our signs and march around Times Square and down Fifth Ave. We who were out there were enthusiastic and found a lot of enthusiasm, and a lot of people who were astounded that they hadn’t heard much about this film.

IF YOU TELL THEM, THEY WILL COME!
